Fragrance Notes FAQ

What are Top Notes?

In the world of fragrances, Top, Middle, and Base Notes refer to the three distinct layers of scents that make up a fragrance, each with its own evaporation rate and perceived duration.

Top Notes are the first scents you detect. They are typically light, fresh, and volatile (meaning they evaporate quickly).

Middle Notes emerge after the top notes have faded from the fragrance, forming the "heart" of the scent. Usually, middle notes are floral, spicy, or fruity. They contribute to the overall character and depth of the aroma. Middle notes can linger for hours.

Base Notes are the foundation scents of any fragrance. They are the last to emerge, and last the longest. Base notes are deep and rich, adding a complexity to the scent. They are often woody or musky, and can linger for many hours or even days.
