Every now and then, something unusual turns up.

A clipping tucked into a book. A note slipped between papers. A quotation or sketch copied into a forgotten notebook. The sort of thing that catches one's attention and refuses to be discarded.

Recently, several such fragments found their way onto the same desk.

Some were straightforward enough. Others were written in a simple substitution cipher and required a bit more patience to decipher. Rather than filing them away, we thought it might be enjoyable to share them with you.
